A VietjetAir Airbus A321-200, registration VN-A635 performing flight VJ-425 from Hanoi to Pleiku (Vietnam), was on final approach to Pleiku's runway 09 when the approach became unstable prompting the crew to initiate a go around. During the go-around a GPWS alarm triggered. The aircraft climbed out to safety, positioned for another approach and landed on runway 09 about 20 minutes later.

Vietnam's AIB rated the occurrence a serious incident and opened an investigation.

According to ADSB data the aircraft climbed out slowly at first over flat terrain, however, about 18nm straight ahead from the point, where the aircraft climbed through 2500 feet, terrain rises to about 4400 feet.
