The airport was closed for about 3.5 hours until the aircraft was moved off the runway (runway 08L/26R not yet open).
The airline reported the following day that the crew had alerted air traffic control of a technical problem prior to landing. Emergency services were on stand by for the landing which resulted in the collapse of the left main gear.
On Feb 23rd 2013 the NTSB reported that the aircraft landed on Muscat's runway 26L, the left main gear collapsed during roll out and the aircraft came to a stop at the left edge of the runway (editorial note: there is no mention of a problem prior to touchdown). The aircraft sustained substantial damage to gear, engine and wing. Oman's Authorities are investigating.
