An Edelweiss Airbus A320-200, registration HB-IJV performing flight WK-284 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Funchal (Portugal), was enroute at FL350 about 70nm southwest of Lyon (France) when the crew decided to return to Zurich due to a fuel filter indication. The aircraft descended to FL340 for the return and landed safely back in Zurich about 95 minutes after departure.

A replacement A320-200 registration HB-IHZ reached Funchal with a delay of about 3 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 5 hours after landing.
