A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-300, registration N399WN performing flight WN-224 from Austin,TX to Chicago Midway,IL (USA) with 133 people on board, was on approach to Chicago Midway Airport (longest runway 6450 feet/1960 meters) when the crew could not extend the flaps, stopped the approach at 3000 feet and diverted to Milwaukee,WI (USA), longest runway 10700 feet/3260 meters, for a safe zero flap landing at a substantially higher than normal speed about 35 minutes later.

Passengers reported the landing occurred at 250 miles per hour (215 knots).

Radar data suggest touch down occurred at a speed of 200 knots over ground.

The airline confirmed a technical problem with the flaps.

A replacement Boeing 737-300 reached Chicago Midway with a delay of 2.5 hours.
