An Air Wisconsin Canadair CRJ-200 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N469AW performing flight AA-6155 from Chicago O'Hare,IL to Appleton,WI (USA) with 48 people on board, was on approach to Appleton when the crew aborted the approach reporting a gear disagree indication. The crew subsequently decided to divert to Milwaukee,WI and advised ATC, they had the gear down but won't have nose gear steering available. The aircraft landed safely on Milwaukee's runway 01L about 30 minutes after departure from Chicago.

A replacement CRJ-200 registration N457AW "hopped" from Milwaukee to Appleton and reached the destination with a delay of about 2 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 12 hours after landing in Milwaukee.
