An ANZ Air New Zealand Boeing 787-9, registration ZK-NZF performing flight NZ-78 from Taipei (Taiwan) to Auckland (New Zealand), was enroute at FL350 over the Pacific Ocean about 610nm south of Guam (Guam) when the crew turned the aircraft around and diverted to Guam due to an unidentified odour in the cabin. The aircraft landed safely on Guam's runway 24R about 80 minutes later.

Passengers reported there was sort of an electrical burning smell on board.

The airline reported an unidentified odour on board prompted the crew to divert their aircraft with about 300 passengers to Guam. The cause of the odour is still under investigation.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Guam about 29 hours after landing.
