An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N590AS performing flight AS-819 from Kona,HI to Seattle,WA (USA), was enroute over the Pacific Ocean when a phone call was received a specific passenger would attempt to hijack the aircraft. Two F-15 fighter aircraft were dispatched to accompany the Boeing to Seattle, where the aircraft landed safely. The specified passenger taken into custody by police.

The FBI confirmed a phone call was received indicating a specific passenger would hijack the aircraft. The passenger was taken into custody for an interview. The passenger was completely unaware of the issue and had slept throughout most of the flight. The phone call was identified as a prank against that passenger, who was released. The hoax phone call is being followed up and is being taken very seriously as a crime, the attention now focusses on the caller.
