A MAS Air Cargo Airbus A330-200 freighter, registration EI-MYY performing flight MA-6442 from Sao Paulo Viracopos,SP (Brazil) to Quito (Ecuador), was climbing out of Viracopos runway 15 when the crew stopped the climb at 7000 feet due to a hydraulic failure and inability to fully retract the landing gear. The aircraft entered a hold, performed an alternate gear extension and returned to Viracopos Airport for a safe landing with open gear doors on runway 15 about 55 minutes after departure and rolled to the end of the runway. The aircraft was towed to the apron.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 6 hours, then departed again and reached Quito with a delay of about 7 hours.
