An Allegiant McDonnell Douglas MD-88, flight G4-717 from Wilmington,NC to Orlando Sanford,FL (USA), was on approach to Orlando Sanford Airport's runway 09L when just prior to contacting tower the crew reported a bird strike stating the noise had changed on the flight deck, so that there had to be damage the extent of which was unknown, the crew suspected the bird hit the nose or just below. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on runway 09L about 5 minutes later.

The FAA reported the bird hit the nose cone resulting in minor damage to the aircraft.
