A Central Mountain Air de Havilland Dash 8-100, registration C-FVRJ performing flight 9M-9476 from Fort McMurray,AB to Edmonton,AB (Canada), was climbing out of Fort McMurray when the crew received an unsafe indication for the nose gear, that remained stuck halfway between extended and retracted position. The crew attempted to retract the landing gear, the nose gear did not move however. The related checklist was worked including a manual gear extension, the nose gear however remained in its stuck position. The crew declared emergency and returned to Fort McMurray. During landing the nose gear did not collapse keeping the nose clear of contact with the runway. The aircraft stopped on the runway and was shut down.

The Canadian TSB reported there were no injuries to the passengers and crew, the aircraft also did not receive any damage. The company maintenance will follow up to the TSB with their findings.
