A Westjet Encore Dash 8-400 had experienced an unsafe gear indication for the nose gear at Terrace,BC (Canada), had gone around and diverted to Prince George. The aircraft performed two low approaches at Prince George to have the gear inspected from the ground, then performed a safe landing, see Incident: Westjet Encore DH8D at Prince George on Nov 22nd 2016, unsafe nose gear.
The Dornier arrived at Prince George while Air Traffic was still dealing with the Westjet emergency. ATC therefore instructed the aircraft to join a right downwind to runway 24 instead of a direct straight in approach to runway 15, in addition instructed the aircraft to extend the downwind for runway 33 to permit for the emergency aircraft and emergency vehicles to clear the runway. The Dornier crew declared Mayday for being low on fuel, clearing the runway and a runway inspection were expedited and the Dornier was able to land on runway 33 safely.
