A UPS United Parcel Service Airbus A300-600, registration N131UP performing flight 5X-2071 from Newark,NJ to Chicago Rockford,IL (USA) with 2 crew, was on approach to Rockford's runway 25 when the crew initiated a go around due to problems with the flaps. The aircraft entered a hold while the crew was working the checklists. The crew finally declared emergency advising they had a "flap emergency" and continued for a safe landing on runway 25 about 40 minutes after the missed approach.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 9.5 hours, then resumed service.
