An Alliance Airlines Fokker 100, registration VH-UQB performing flight QQ-557 from Perth,WA to Melbourne,VI (Australia), was enroute at FL320 about 240nm west of Melbourne when the aircraft experienced vibrations. The crew subsequently descended the aircraft to FL170 and continued to Melbourne for a safe landing about 50 minutes after the vibrations.

Passengers reported there were vibrations, that stopped. The aircraft descended, the captain announced the left hand engine (Tay 650) had failed.

The aircraft was carrying the Australian Rules Football Team West Coast Eagles to their next match in Melbourne.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Melbourne about 24 hours after landing.
