A TAP Air Portugal Airbus A330-900, registration CS-TUR performing flight TP-277 from Lisbon (Portugal) to Cancun (Mexico), was climbing through FL310 out of Lisbon when the crew stopped the climb and drifted down to FL190 due to a left engine problem (Trent 7000). The aircraft turned around to return to Lisbon for a safe landing on runway 21 about 65 minutes after stopping the climb.

A replacement Airbus A330-900 registration CS-TUA reached Cancun with a delay of about 7 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Lisbon about 58 hours after landing back.

The airline reported the aircraft returned to Lisbon due to a technical malfunction in one of the engines.
