An Air Austral Boeing 787-8, registration F-OLRC performing flight UU-977 from Nairobi (Kenya) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (France), was enroute at FL400 about 110nm south of Athens when the crew initiated a diversion to Athens declaring PAN PAN and reporting the loss of major electrical systems. The aircraft landed safely on Athens' runway 03R about 21 minutes after leaving FL400.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Athens about 36 hours after landing.
