A Cargojet Boeing 757-200 freighter, registration C-GIAJ performing flight W8-919 from Cincinnati,KY (USA) to Calgary,AB (Canada) with 2 crew, was in the climb out of Cincinnnati Norther Kentucky Airport's runway 18L when the crew received a left hand engine (RB211) overheat indication. The crew reduced the engine to idle, stopped the climb at 17,000 feet, considered to return to Cincinnati but ultimately decided to divert to Hamilton,ON (Canada) where the aircraft landed safely about 2:08 hours after departure.

The aircraft returned to service after about 18.5 hours on the ground.
