Passengers reported the captain announced they had been hit by a bird, however, both engines were unaffected. Once on the ground the captain announced the checks should soon be completed and they'd depart again, but then the news came that maintenance people from Bucharest were needed to be flown in.
The airline reported a wild hawk had collided with the aircraft and had left blood stains. A replacement aircraft needed to be dispatched.
A replacement ATR-72-212A registration YR-ATL reached Bucharest with a delay of 4:45 hours.
The occurrence aircraft positioned to Bucharest after about 5 hours on the ground and resumed service.
