A Westjet Boeing 737-700, registration C-GWSH performing flight WS-1210 from Toronto,ON (Canada) to New York La Guardia,NY (USA), needed to hold at La Guardia due to weather. When the aircraft was finally on final approach, tower instructed a go around due to loss of spacing to the slower preceding traffic on the approach. The crew declared emergency due to being low on fuel and diverted to their alternate New York Stewart,NY (USA) for a safe landing.

The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft "experienced longer than anticipated holds into KLGA due to weather. Once on final, ATC instructed WestJet 1210 to go around due to loss of spacing to the slower traffic ahead on the approach. At that point, fuel on board was less than required minimum."
