An Air Canada Rouge Airbus A320-200, registration C-GFCI performing flight RV-1740 from Toronto,ON (Canada) to Varadero (Cuba) with 166 people on board, was descending through FL210 towards Varadero when the aircraft encountered sudden strong down- und updrafts that lasted for about 5 to 10 seconds. The fasten seat belt signs had already been turned on, however, three flight attendants located in the aft galley as well as four passengers throughout the cabin received injuries in the upset. The aircraft continued for a safe landing in Varadero about 15 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported the three cabin crew and four passengers received minor injuries in turbulence which strongly forced the aircraft up and down and lasted for approximately 5-10 seconds.
