An Avianca Boeing 787-8, registration N796AV performing flight AV-18 from Bogota (Colombia) to Barcelona,SP (Spain), was descending through FL260 towards Barcelona when the IAS increased reaching a value close to the maximum operating speed. In order to reduce the speed the crew deployed the speed brakes and pulled the control column causing a vertical acceleration of about +2.1G. A passenger and a flight attendant received injuries as result of the abrupt maneouver. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Barcelona's runway 25R about 25 minutes later.

Spain's CIAIAC reported a flight attendant and a passenger received serious injuries when the aircraft encountered +2.1G as result of the crew pulling the control column and deploying the speed brakes in order to reduce the airspeed. An investigation has been opened.
