A United Boeing 737-800, registration N77539 performing flight UA-1554 from San Francisco,CA to Atlanta,GA (USA), was enroute when a female passenger felt strange stinging sensations at her leg that intensified and went to the bathroom to check them out. On the way to the lavatory a scorpion fell out of her trousers and tried to escape via the cabin floor, but was caught by flight attendants. The passenger, who had received several stings, was treated by the flight attendants guided by Medlink. The aircraft continued to Atlanta, where the aircraft landed safely. Paramedics attended to the passenger and took her to a hospital.

The airline confirmed the occurrence stating that cabin crew was providing assistance to the passengers while in consultation with Medlink. She was taken to a local hospital after landing in Atlanta and is doing fine.
