A Bradley Air Services Avions de Trasport Regional ATR-42-500 on behalf of First Air, registration C-FTIR performing flight 7F-842 from Kugluktuk,NT to Yellowknife,NT (Canada) with 25 passengers and 3 crew, was in the initial climb during gear retraction when the crew heard two pops. The crew decided to continue to Yellowknife, declared emergency and requested emergency services on standby due to the possibility of burst tyres. The aircraft landed safely and taxied to the apron.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found the left hand engine intake throat deice boot had become disbonded from the intake duct. The oil cooler flap exhibited damage and the first stage compressor showed foreign object damage. The aircraft was repaired.
