An ASL Airlines France Boeing 737-400 on behalf of ASL Airlines Ireland, registration F-GIXU performing flight AG-1539 from Milan Malpensa (Italy) to Hanover (Germany), was climbing out of Malpensa's runway 35L when the aircraft received a bird strike prompting the crew to stop the climb at about 4500 feet and return to Malpensa for a safe landing about 20 minutes after departure.

A replacement ASL Airlines Ireland Boeing 737-400 registration EI-STM reached Hanover with a delay of about 3 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 24 hours later.
