A Chengdu Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration B-9985 performing flight EU-6667 from Chengdu to Shanghai Pudong (China), was climbing out of Chengdu when the crew could not retract the landing gear and entered a hold at 2700 meters (about 8800 feet) to work the checklists. The aircraft subsequently climbed to 3000 meters (9800 feet) to burn off fuel and landed safely back in Chengdu about 85 minutes after departure.

A replacement A320-200 registration B-1856 reached Shanghai with a delay of about 4 hours.
