A S7 Sibir Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration VP-BVH performing flight S7-876 from Alicante,SP (Spain) to Moscow Domodedovo (Russia), was enroute at FL360 about 70nm southwest of Venice (Italy) when the aircraft's transponder stopped sending position data (ADS-B ) after transmitting a few erratic positions and reverted to pure Mode-S transmissions. At about that time the crew reported the failure of their navigation and decided to divert to Vienna (Austria) on radar vectors. The aircraft landed safely on Vienna's runway 29 about one hour later.

Rosaviatsia reported without mentioning further details that the crew reported the failure of the "aircraft navigation".

The aircraft was able to continue the flight the following day and reached Moscow as flight S7-9876, full transponder capabilities including ADS-B online again, with a delay of 24 hours.
