A KLM Boeing 747-400, registration PH-BFH performing flight KL-565 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Nairobi (Kenya), was enroute at FL350 about 140nm northwest of Athens when the crew decided to return to Amsterdam due to indications of both nose tyres deflating. While enroute back to Amsterdam the crew observed the tyre pressure to drop below 30% of normal, decided to land as quickly as possible and diverted the aircraft to Frankfurt/Main (Germany). On approach to Frankfurt the crew requested a long final, extended the landing gear early and advised tower, they would stop on the runway and needed to be towed off the runway. The aircraft landed safely on Frankfurt's runway 25C, kept the nose gear up as long as practicable before putting the nose gear onto the runway. The aircraft rolled out without further incident, vacated the runway and taxied to a remote stand close to the runway.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Frankfurt for almost 5 hours, both nose tyres and a faulty gasket were replaced, then returned to Amsterdam.
