The remainder of the flight was cancelled.
A passenger reported the aircraft initiated a sudden and rapid descent immediately after crossing the Apennine Mountains and diverted to Malpensa. The crew indicated pressurization issues. They were rebooked onto a flight the following day.
The occurrence aircraft returned to service after about 22.5 hours on the ground.
