An Air Canada Airbus A320-200, registration C-FDRK performing flight AC-917 from Miami,FL (USA) to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 145 people on board, was in the initial climb out of runway 08R when the crew received an avionics smoke indication, declared emergency and returned to Miami for a safe overweight landing on runway 12. Responding emergency services found no trace of fire or smoke.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance examined the avionics smoke warning system, reset the avionics equipment ventilation computer and performed an overweight landing inspection.
