An Iberia Airbus A320-200N, registration EC-MXU performing flight IB-3151 from Athens (Greece) to Madrid,SP (Spain), was climbing out of Athens' runway 03L when the crew received a right hand engine (LEAP) fire indication, shut the engine down and discharged a fire bottle. The aircraft returned to Athens for a safe landing on runway 03R about 35 minutes after departure.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 148 hours, then positioned back to Madrid on Jun 17th and resumed service on Jun 18th 2019.

On Jun 21st 2019 The Aviation Herald learned a fractured oil pipe caused a leak spilling oil onto the hot section of the engine, which caused a small fire. The engine was replaced.
