An IRS Airlines Fokker 100, registration 5N-SAT performing flight LVB-3306 from Lagos to Abuja (Nigeria) with 91 passengers, was taxiing for departure from runway 18L when the right wing tip contacted a stationary truck causing minor damage to the wing tip.

The airport confirmed a minor collision on the apron, the operation of the airport was not affected. The airport authority later added, that the sewage tanker had gone off the road on Tuesday (Oct 9th) and became stuck in the drainage ditch at the taxiway ramp. The following morning at 07:45L the aircraft continued to taxi past the truck, the wing contacted a section of the truck however. The incident has been reported to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and Accident Investigation Board, workers are on standby to pull the truck out as soon as the preliminary investigation by the agencies has been concluded.

Nigeria's Emergency Management Agency said, the damage was similiar to a scratch in a car when the wing tip contacted a stationary truck near a cargo loading area on Lagos' apron.

The airline reported the crew observed the gully emptier truck in a ditch, no marshaller or marking were around indicating the truck encroached the taxi way. The crew continued taxi, the wing tip however contacted a protrusion from the rear of the truck. The captain therefore requested to return to the gate. A replacement aircraft subsequently performed the flight with a delay of 2.5 hours.

This event, although usually outside the coverage of The Aviation Herald, was included because some Nigerian Media (and global media copying/pasting those reports) tell fairy tales that the aircraft was attempting takeoff when it collided with a truck on the runway and lost half of its right hand wing.
