An Aeroflot Airbus A320-200, registration VP-BCA performing flight SU-2405 from Rome Fiumicino (Italy) to Moscow Sheremetyevo (Russia), was climbing out of Rome when the aircraft received a lightning strike. In absence of abnormal indications the crew continued the flight to Moscow, where the aircraft landed safely about 3:15 hours later.

A post flight inspection revealed scorch marks. The aircraft is still on the ground in Moscow about 19 hours after landing.
