A Surinam Airways Airbus A340-300, registration PZ-TCP performing flight PY-993 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Paramaribo (Suriname), was climbing out of Amsterdam's runway 18L when the crew stopped the climb at FL080 reporting the landing gear doors had not closed. The aircraft entered a hold at FL080 for about 15 minutes, the crew reported they were unable to solve the issue and needed to return to Amsterdam. The aircraft landed safely on runway 18R about 30 minutes after departure.

The flight was postponed to the next day, but is still on the ground 25 hours after scheduled departure.
