An Expressjet Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of United, registration N14105 performing flight EV-4575/UA-4575 from Montreal,QC (Canada) to Newark,NJ (USA) with 35 people on board, was in the initial climb out of Montreal's runway 24L when a strong burning smell developed on board. The crew declared emergency and returned to Montreal for a safe landing on runway 24L about 9 minutes after departure.

The Canadian TSB reported the crew did not observe any visible smoke. The passengers deplaned normally at the gate.
