A Fedex Federal Express McDonnell Douglas DC-10, registration N564FE performing flight FX-514 from Memphis,TN to Philadelphia,PA (USA), landed on Philadelphia's runway 27R and vacated the runway. The crew of another aircraft subsequently reported it appeared a large piece of the engine cowling flew off the aircraft and came to rest near taxiway Q at the right side of the runway. Another crew reported they were seeing the engine cowling on the runway about 200-100 feet short of taxiway T, about 2500 meters/8200 feet down the runway.

The FAA reported an engine cowling separated from the Fedex DC-10.

Philadelphia tower continued to clear aircraft to land on runway 27R advising arriving flight crew about the engine cowling on the runway near taxiway T. Two aircraft decided to go around.
