An Indigo Airbus A320-200, registration VT-IFP performing flight 6E-779 from Coimbatore to Hyderabad (India) with 162 people on board, was climbing through FL280 out of Coimbatore.

An Indigo Airbus A320-200N, registration VT-ITP performing flight 6E-6505 from Bangalore to Cochin (India) with 166 people on board, was climbing to FL280 out of Bangalore and was about to level off, when the horizontal distance between the aircraft reduced causing TCAS resolution advisories on board of both aircraft, 6E-6505 was instructed to climb and climbed to FL282, 6E-779 was instructed to descend and descended temporarily until clear of conflict.

6E-779 continued the climb while 6E-6505 returned to FL280.

The closest horizontal distance between the aircraft was 1.9nm according to ADS-B data, at that point the vertical separation was about 600 feet.

The airline confirmed that two of their aircraft received TCAS resolution advisories. India's AAIB is investigating the occurrence. According to first information the minimum separation was about 200 feet vertical at 4nm horizontal.
