In their preliminary report in Persian released in August 2018 Iran's AIB reported there were a captain, a first officer and an instructor in the cockpit. The aircraft approached runway 29L normally, but bounced three times which eventually resulted in a tail strike.
The AIB reported that according to studies a go around was still possible after the first bounce.
There was damage to position 77, however, no stringers or frames were damaged (no structural damage), some rivets were cut. The repairs were done by authorized repair facilities.
A final report will be issued in English and French.
