A United Boeing 777-200, registration N37018 performing flight UA-19 from Newark,NJ (USA) to Milan Malpensa (Italy) with 251 passengers and 14 crew, was enroute at FL360 about 90nm south of Halifax,NS (Canada) when the crew observed a decreasing oil pressure on the right hand engine (GE90), reduced the engine to idle, declared emergency and decided to divert to Halifax, where the aircraft landed safely about 25 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported the starter on the #2 engine had failed and was leaking oil at the gearbox pad. The starter was replaced.
