An Air China Boeing 737-800, registration B-5442 performing flight CA-103 from Tianjin to Hong Kong (China), had safely landed on Hong Kong's runway 07L and taxied to the apron, when ground staff noticed the radome had received a hole of about 1 meter in diameter, blood stains suggested the aircraft may have suffered a bird strike.

However, the crew had not reported any anomaly to ATC suggesting the crew may not have been aware of the damage.

The airline reported the radome had some sort of a mechanical fault.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 11 hours, then departed for the return flight CA-104 and reached Tianjin with a delay of about 9:45 hours.
