A Gol Transportes Aereas Boeing 737-800, registration PR-GUP performing flight G3-1537 from Joao Pessoa,PB to Sao Paulo Congonhas,SP (Brazil), was in the initial climb out of Joao Pessoa when the aircraft struck a bird prompting the crew to return to Joao Pessoa for a safe landing.

The flight was cancelled.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Joao Pessoa for about 33 hours, then positioned to Belo Horizonte,MG (Brazil) and remained on the ground another 34 hours before returning to service.
