A LATAM Airbus A321-200, registration PT-XPM performing flight JJ-3484 from Manaus,AM to Rio de Janeiro Galeao,RJ (Brazil), was climbing out of Manaus' runway 11 when the crew stopped the climb at 10,000 feet and decided to return to Manaus for a safe landing on runway 11 about 18 minutes after departure.

The airline reported a technical malfunction prompted the return. The passengers were taken to Rio de Janeiro on a later flight.

Passengers reported the passenger oxygen masks were released and a burning odour developed on board.

A replacement A321-200 registration PT-XPF reached Rio de Janeiro as flight JJ-9002 with a delay of 11 hours.
