A United Boeing 737-800, registration N33266 performing flight UA-1643 from Saint Lucia Hewanorra (Saint Lucia) to Newark,NJ (USA) with about 150 people on board, was climbing out of Saint Lucia when the crew could not fully retract the landing gear, stopped the climb, burned off fuel and returned to Hewanorra Airport for a safe landing about 2 hours after departure.

The flight was cancelled.
