An Air Caraibes Airbus A330-300, registration F-ORLY performing flight TX-540 from Paris Orly (France) to Pointe-a-Pitre (Guadeloupe) with about 300 people on board, was in the initial climb out of Orly's runway 24 when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet due to an engine (PW4168) problem. The aircraft returned to Orly for a safe landing on runway 26 about 30 minutes after departure.

The passengers were taken to Paris Charles de Gaulle by bus, where a replacemnet aircraft was to depart, the airline indicated a departure from Orly was not possible due to night curfew.

A replacement XL Airways France Airbus A330-200 registration F-HXXL reached Pointe-a-Pitre as flight TX-5640 with a delay of about 10 hours.

Flight TX-541 from Pointe-a-Pitre to Orly departing in the afternoon (local time Guadeloupe) needed to be postponed to the following day.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 34 hours after landing back.
