A SAS Scandinavian Airlines Boeing 737-600, registration LN-RPF performing flight SK-4472 from Oslo to Kirkenes (Norway) with 71 passengers, was on final approach to Kirkenes' runway 24 when the crew initiated a go around reporting an unsafe gear indication. The crew entered a hold to work the appropriate checklists, performed an alternate gear extension which resulted in three greens and landed safely on runway 24 about 35 minutes after the go around.

The return flight was cancelled.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Kirkenes for 29 hours, then positioned back to Oslo, remained on the ground in Oslo for another 12 hours, then returned to service.
