A Westjet Boeing 737-600, registration C-GWCQ performing flight WS-149 from Saskatoon,SK to Calgary,AB (Canada) with 73 people on board, was about 25 minutes into the flight when the flight crew was informed that a passenger had been smoking in the aft lavatory, the smoke detector had activaed. Cabin crew performed a cursory inspection of the aft lavatory but could not find any trace of fire or smoke, they were also unable to locate the cigarette and were unable to silence the smoke detector. The captain declared PAN and continued the flight to Calgary where the aircraft landed safely about 30 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported emergency services performed an outside inspection of the aircraft and detected no signs of fire or damage.
