A Rossiya Boeing 737-500, registration EI-CDH performing flight FV-667 from St. Petersburg to Sochi (Russia) with 114 passengers, was climbing out of St. Petersburg's runway 10R when the crew reported the failure of the left hand electrical system, stopped the climb at about FL180, entered a hold at FL100 to burn off fuel and returned to St. Peterburg's Pulkovo Airport for a safe landing on runway 28R about 100 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-500 registration EI-CDG reached Sochi with a delay of 4 hours.

The incident aircraft was able to resume service about 3.5 hours after landing.
