An Asiana Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration HL8265 performing flight OZ-1165 from Seoul Gimpo (South Korea) to Osaka Kansai (Japan), was in the initial climb out of Gimpo's runway 32L when the right hand engine (V2533) ingested a bird prompting the crew to stop the climb at 2500 feet. The aircraft subsequently climbed to 4000 feet while positioning for a return to Gimpo's runway 32R. The aircraft landed safely back about 25 minutes after departure.

A number of fan blades were damaged as result of the bird strike.

A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration HL8018 reached Osaka with a delay of 4.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 35 hours after landing back.
