A Westjet Boeing 737-700, registration C-FIWJ performing flight WS-157 from Edmonton,AB to Abbottsford,BC (Canada) with 95 passengers and 5 crew, was climbing out of Edmonton's runway 30 when the crew noticed problems with the pitch control. The crew subsequently received a MASTER CAUTION indicating SPEED TRIM FAIL. The crew continued using the manual trim, worked the related checklists, decided to return to Edmonton and stopped the climb at 11,500 feet. The aircraft landed safely back in Edmonton about 40 minutes after departure.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance replaced the stabilizer trim motor.
