A Bravo Airways McDonnell Douglas MD-83, registration UR-COC performing flight BAY-4423 from Kiev Zhulyani (Ukraine) to Dalaman (Turkey), was climbing through 1700 feet MSL out of Kiev's runway when the right hand engine (JT8D) surged, airport personnel on the ground observed a few flashes and loud bangs from the right hand engine. The aircraft stopped the climb and diverted to Kiev's Borispil Airport. An inspection of Zhulyani's departure runway revealed debris originating from the engine.

The NBAAI reported they did not open an investigation into the occurrence rated an incident.
