A Virgin Australia Boeing 737-800, registration VH-YIT performing flight VA-91 from Auckland (New Zealand) to Apia (Samoa), was climbing out of Auckland when the crew stopped the climb at FL250 and entered a hold at FL250 due to problems with the air conditioning systems. The crew subsequently decided to return to Auckland where the aircraft landed safely about 45 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

A passenger reported the aircraft lost cabin pressure and descended quickly to low altitude before returning to Auckland.

The airline reported a minor engineering issue.
