A Norwegian International Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration EI-FHA performing flight D8-5620 from Barcelona,SP (Spain) to Helsinki (Finland), was on approach to Helsinki when the aircraft received a lightning strike. The crew continued for a safe landing on Helsinki's runway 22L.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 7 hours after landing.

The airline confirmed a lightning strike affecting two flights to Helsinki causing delays on a number of subsequent flights.

The second aircraft performing flight from D8-367 from London Gatwick to Helsinki, arriving 50 minutes after D8-5620 on runway 04L, was able to resume service following the mandatory lightning inspection.
